Priority “FIFA PASS” and U.S. Visa/Travel Information for FIFA World Cup 26™ Fans
What International Visitors Need to Know Before Traveling to the United States
The FIFA World Cup 26™ will be one of the largest sporting events ever hosted on U.S. soil — a global celebration of sport, culture, and community. As President Donald J. Trump noted in Department of State guidance that this is “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase the beauty and the greatness of America. And we can’t wait to welcome soccer fans from all over the globe.”
FIFA World Cup 2026™ ticket holders traveling to the United States are now eligible for the FIFA Priority Appointment Scheduling System (FIFA PASS). During a landmark event at the White House attended by the President of the United States Donald J. Trump, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, the White House Task Force and FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the U.S. Department of State unveiled the FIFA Priority Appointment Scheduling System, FIFA PASS, for FIFA World Cup 2026 ticket holders attending matches in the United States. This service gives every fan who buys a ticket the opportunity to obtain a prioritized visa interview.
As immigration attorneys, we are excited to help visitors prepare for a smooth, stress-free entry into the United States. Whether you’ll be cheering from stadium seats or traveling with friends and family, it’s essential to understand the travel documents required for U.S. entry.
1. Passport Requirements for All Travelers
All foreign visitors must hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond their intended stay in the United States. Some countries are exempt from the six-month rule, but travelers should verify their specific passport validity requirements on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) website.
2. Special Rules for Canadian and Bermudan Citizens
Travelers holding Canadian or Bermudan passports are not required to obtain additional travel authorization to enter the United States as tourists. They may seek admission at a U.S. port of entry with their passports and purpose of travel.
3. Visa Waiver Program (VWP) Travelers
Citizens of the 42 Visa Waiver Program countries may travel to the United States without a visa for stays of up to 90 days, including for tourism related to the World Cup. However, they must apply online for authorization through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).
Travelers should apply for ESTA well in advance, as delays or denials may require a full visa application instead.
4. Visitor Visas (B1/B2) for All Other Countries
Fans from countries not participating in the Visa Waiver Program will need a valid B1/B2 visitor visa to enter the United States for FIFA World Cup 26™ events.
If you do not yet have a U.S. visitor visa:
Apply as early as possible.
U.S. consulates worldwide are expecting significantly increased demand, and interview wait times can vary widely. The Department of State has emphasized its commitment to both security and efficiency during the World Cup period, but travelers should plan ahead to avoid disruptions.
